Hi. I'm running gentoo x86_64 (see signature). I was watching a video in mplayer when suddenly it freezed. I had to ctrl+alt+backspace to exit X, restarted with startx and everything seemed normal. But in dmesg I saw:
Code: | hda: dma_timer_expiry: dma status == 0x64
hda: DMA interrupt recovery
hda: lost interrupt |
I searched in google and it seems there was people with this problem with 2.5 kernels and IO APIC enabled. But... I have 2.6.8...
Anyone else with this problem? Do you thing it's a hardware problem? Should I backup all my data in hda? I also see a lot of messages like this when I insert a DVD in hdb and start vmware:
Code: | hdb: packet command error: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdb: packet command error: error=0x50 |
But I suppose they are not related... are they?
Thx.
(edit)
BTW, I tried to repeat the error. I copied 1GB from hda6 to sda1 (mi SATA disk). Everything was going well when the transfer stopped for some seconds (the gkrellm graph went from 50-100M to 0). Then it continued. And surely, dmesg showed the dma_timer_expiry message. So it seems it's repeatable under heavy load. |
