Hi all, I am a gentoo newbie and just managed to get a working gentoo (from stage 3). X is working fine (X.org), but after emerging kde (binaries from a 2004.2 packages CD) I am still unable to run KDE properly.
Apparently, part of the files is missing.
- First try : startx after putting exec startkde in my .xinitrc -> "exec: startkde: not found". Despite the fact that kde-env is installed, /etc/env.d is lacking all kde related stuff, so I re-emerge kde-env. Now /etc/env.d seems correct.
- Second try : startx, this time library libart_lgpl is lacking depspite the fact that it is installed as shown by emerge --search libart_lgpl -> so I re-emerge libart_lgpl
- Third try : Qt is missing .... and so on
Any hint about what went wrong....
Thanks all,
~pimu
P.S: How much time do I need to compile kde on a P4 2.2 ? Is it a matter of hours, 1/2 day or > day. |
