Hi, I just bought an usb optical mouse, I plugged it and works perfectly.
I just want to ask some basic questions about how it works: the ps2 mouse is still plugged, and the inputs from the two mice are mixed together. My xorg.conf pionts to /dev/mouse wich is a symlink to misc/psaux. Am I correct if I say that misc/psaux is not a "real" mouse device but a sort of mixer that sums all the mice available on the system, ps2 and usb?
Just curious. ![Smile :)](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Yes, it is correct. /dev/psaux in 2.6 is a synonym for /dev/input/mice which is multiplexor for all mouse-like pointing devices present in the system (mice, touchpads, touchscreens, tablets, etc). Individual devices can be accessed separately either through /dev/input/mouse[0-9] (cooked PS/2 protocol) or through /dev/input/event[0-9] (native event protocol). _________________ Dmitry |
