Hi,
I just installed Gentoo Linux for the first time. When now Gentoo is booting this error message appears on the screen: "module dependencies failed to calculate. I used the livecd cd and stage 3 for an Athlon TB. To build the kernel I typed:
make menuconfig
make dep && make clean bzImage modules modules_install
cp /usr/src/linux/arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot
The bootloader is GRUB installed in /boot of SuSE Linux 8.1
depmod -aev produces the following output:
xftw starting at /lib/modules/boot lstat on /lib/modules/boot failed

Can anybody please help me to fix this problem?

I found the error: /etc/modules.d/ppp was rwxr-xr-x and now everything works fine with rw-r--r--.
Thanks anyway
