|
|
Hi!
My provider offers only dynamic IP. I have registered a domain on no-ip.org server and my box is runnig a program that refreshes it every x minutes.
I wanted to have more "professional" domain name, but using xname.org and eu.org I faced one problem. Among other settings on xname.org they want me to give IP adres in section (A) - my is changing every several hours
Is it possible to register normal domain with dynamic IP ?
Best regards,
Bartek

There are two ways.
First way is to use a dynamic IP service like dyndns as your name server. They will let you dynamically update your IP in the same way you do now. The other way is to cname the dns entries for your domain to your dynamic no-ip domain name. |

The dynamic IP service worked quite well for me. What I did was open an account and register a hostname on www.dyndns.org, install dclient (downloadable somewhere from dyndns.org, I don't know, maybe it's in portage too), configured and was done.
What could be viewed as a drawback is that dynamic DNS only works with the set of domains your provider offers. |

I already have this service. I just wonder if I could register domain like bartmasz.com having only dynamic IP.

no-ip.com does it but it isn't free its called no-ip plus.
dyndns.org does it. Custom dns also not free.
zone-edit.com does it for free. |

if you've bought a domain, you can make it dynamic using a DNS hosting service such as http://freedns.afraid.org/ |

Hi!
I have chosen www.zoneedit.com and provided the registrar (www.eu.org) with the name and IP of nameservers. After submiting form a get:
Quote: | DNS query result
---- Basic checks
---- Servers and domain names check
---- Checking server addresses
Checking IP 69.10.134.196 for NS19.ZONEEDIT.COM...ok.
Checking IP 216.110.187.226 for NS16.ZONEEDIT.COM...ok.
Error: NS19.ZONEEDIT.COM not authoritative for domain MYSITE.EU.ORG.
Error: NS16.ZONEEDIT.COM not authoritative for domain MYSITE.EU.ORG.
2 error(s), stopping.

What does it mean?

I sounds like your registrar requires you to have the DNS servers set up and running before it will transfer the authority to them. Have you set the domain up on zoneedit? |
