I want to install Gentoo on an old Mac Powerpc Performa 6400/200... I have connected a pci eth card (realtek chipset frm my PC computer) on this mac... During the installation process it doesn't recognize any eth connection. If I type "lspci" it recognize a Realtek card connected but with "ifconfig" only a "lo" appears ... What I have to do? Which module I have to load? thankyou |

If you have a realtek rtl-8139, the module to load for this card is 8139too or 8139cp. |

Ok... it's true... but inside the powerpc gentoo kernel there isn't this module! It's the 2.6.5-gentoo-G4! What have i to do? |

I can't tell what you need to know. there is a section in the handbook. just search for modprobe, it will jump right to the section. can you try booting a different kernel from the cd that you might have more luck with? I dont remember exactly whats on there. _________________ ubi primum potero, me hinc subduco. |
