apache2 + tomcat5 (and coldfusion)

I am trying to use coldfusion together with tomcat and apache2 with mod_jk2 connector. Now i setup everything like mentioned in this post https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=168468 but there seems to be one problem that i cannot solve. the CFM files are loading just fine, but the rest of the content (images, css....) are not loaded, and my logs show its some kind of permission issue. I am not sure but what i think is is that the virtual host documentroot which is set to my coldfusion app is outside my main documentroot specified in apache2.conf. Am i right in thinking this could be the problem and if so or not what would be a good solution?
