All righty, I just got Gentoo sort of working on an IBM ThinkPad 600. I compiled an image on this machine and extracted it on the laptop.
Using the livecd I everything pretty much works without issue. No problem. However, when I boot up using 2.6.9 I cannot get networking to run at all. I use a PCMCIA tulip card and it works fine on the livecd.
Whenever I run hotplug I get an error saying:
Code: | Disabling IRQ #11
Disabling IRQ #10 |
Doing "cat /proc/interrupts" tells me that 10 is being used by the yenta socket and uhci and that 11 is being used by the yenta socket. APIC doesn't exist on this machine so far as I can tell and I have APM and ACPI completely shut off in the kernel.
Is there a kernel option I need to set (and if so, be specific as to the parameter name) or a parameter I need to pass or is it something else entirely? If I need to post dmesg or anything I will, but at the moment it is kind of a pain because I have to get the info, save it to a file and reboot from a live CD to post it. _________________ Repeat after me! I just booted it up under an older Knoppix disk I have and, again, everything seems to work fine. IRQ 11 shares both the yenta slots, eth0 AND usb-uhci. It's also running 2.4. I must have to do some kind of IRQ configuring but... I've never had to do so before and don't even know where to look. _________________ Repeat after me! This world is made of love and peace! |

same problem, but mine freezes when shutting down eth0 with 'Disabling IRQ #19'. No idea about that one... _________________ 95% of all computer errors occur between chair and keyboard (TM)
