hi just installed ftp on my gentoo box, but cant seem to ftp to the school linux server, i am behind a proxy server, how to i set it up to go out thru the proxy? |

yeh i read that regarding ftp behind proxy for web page only, im talkin about the other way of ftp'ing, as in ftp thru console and connect to the school linux server. i've have tried using export ftp_proxy but that dont work, it only work for surfing ftp website. |

I'm sorry but I don't really understand what you want to do (guess: ftp to a server e.g. ftp ftp.server.com over a proxy using a console command) and what's the problem.
Don't use a proxy at home so can't test this. I will do this on monday. Hope I can give you more information then!

emmm, do you mean using a browser in X? The browser has it's own proxy settings!
