I am completley new to linux, so please outline very clearly what i need to do.
I would like to turn on mouse acceleration. I have a ps2 intelli mouse optical with 5 buttons and im not sure if its helpful but i use /dev/mouse i think.
im a noob i know so please try to put it in very simple terms

You may, but /dev/mouse is just a soft link to the real mouse device, which is probably /dev/input/mouse0.

I dont think this issue is tackled on these forums specificaly. I have been searching for hours and trying alot of things, none of which work. |

Very well then - please explain clearly what you mean by "mouse acceleration"; this is not normally something the X server does, but rather an interpretation by the window manager.
And therefore a simple setting in the WM config.

hard to explain, im sure someone else will know how to.
i have read over the x conf, but as i am new, i dont really know what alot of it does.
do you know what i mean by mouse acceleration? |
