|
|
Hi,
I have just switched from XFree to Xorg and from Kernel 2.6.1 to 2.6.8.1.
At first everything worked just fine.
But since emerge the latest Base Layouts I can no longer shut down my computer. It simply hangs shortly after the shutdown command, with the mouse cursor still visible.
This happens with KDE as well as with the Fluxbox.
I chekced Xorg.o.log, but I dont see anything suspicious.
I don't really know where to start looking, so I would be thankfull for any help!
Greetings,

Try shutdown X before halting the system, or halt the system from vc/1. If you do you can see the error messages and it will be more posible to understand whats wrong |

I can't shutdown x, I can't kill x (Ctrl+Alt+Backspace), i can't switch to any consle. All of this leads to a total crash. _________________ Desktop: Intel PIV 2533, MSI 845PE Max2-FISR, 2* 512 MB Samsung PC 333 DDR RAM, MSI MS-8870 G4Ti4200-TD-64, WinXP/RedHat 9.0

I somewhat solved the problem by doing global updates, now it is quite different.
I can no longer log in using KDM as user. root can log in. I can start kde from the console as user as well.
I should have all the rights. Once again, its no KDE Problem, same for Fluxbox. _________________ Desktop: Intel PIV 2533, MSI 845PE Max2-FISR, 2* 512 MB Samsung PC 333 DDR RAM, MSI MS-8870 G4Ti4200-TD-64, WinXP/RedHat 9.0
