I have the nvidia drivers, xorg, and kde, when i run startx, it flashes Nvidia logo, kde starts as normal, then when the desktop shows up it hangs. When i ssh to the machine, X is using 99% of the CPU. This is all with the Driver option in XF86Config set to nvidia, if i use nv then everything works fine, except for what i want.
Im not sure what config files anyone wants to see, if you can help please tell me how to help you help me.
Thanks. _________________ www.google.com |

I,ve got a similar problem with gnome. I found out that by dissabling antialiasing in fonts I stoped having hangs. I haven't tried using nv instead if nvidia... never though of it! _________________ "Yep linux is an alternative. Windows on the other hand isn't even an option"

After a million hours of playing, I have managed to get the nvidia driver to work with opengl! I had to disable agp in xorg.conf:
If i turn it back on it has the same problem, with either agpgart or nvidia's driver. I have a PCChips M810LMR motherboard, with a sis 730 chipset. If anyone knows how to make agp work id be grateful. _________________ www.google.com |
