|
|
Hey so I was wondering what the proper settings are for running Reiser4 as my root partition filesystem? I've just finished a stage1 install of it using the lxnay 1.4.4-edge LiveCD.
I configured the latest love-sources kernel (2.6.9-rc4-love1) from the LiveCD. On boot I get the following error:
Code: |
UDF-fs: No partition found (1)
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(3,7)
|
I was wondering what my settings should be in the kernel and in /etc/fstab (what to say the fs is for my root partition /dev/hda7). Should I have anything else emerged?
Thanks, Iain. |

In fstab
Im not sure about any other settings but i just use noatime for my Reiser4 (which i use everywhere except /boot)
Whatever you do DO NOT use notail, thats just for ReiserFS
In the Kernel
I use ck-sources but iirc correctly just make sure you enable Reiser4 as a supported filesystem
-- there may be more tho, my memory aint too good, also there are Reiser4 tools you need to emerge, i cant remember if those are for just palying about afterwards or if they are required, emerge reiser4progs just to be on the safe side |

Try fiddling with the large keys option in the kernel. I read somewhere that files would be binary incompatible if the wrong option was set. |

I cannot see a Reiser4 option to enable under File Systems in my kernel options, just Reiserfs. Can somebody please confirm that this love-sources supports Reiser4? Where is it?
EDIT: disabled 4k stacks, and there it was
EDIT2: All working, cheers. |
