I have some Japanese games that I installed in Windows, and naturally, they used Japanese names for their directories.

The thing is, when I try to run the executable in Wine, which resides in the Japanese named directory, Wine just complains:
Code:
ashley@lostech dMp $ wine dMp.exe
wine: cannot open (null)
ashley@lostech dMp $

If I move the files to a directory structure containing only "English" (as in the alphabet) characters, then Wine doesn't die anymore.

The directory names appear as question marks, which is expected I guess..

The quick work around is to obviously just take the game out of the Japanese directory. But, I'm wondering if there's anything else I can do about this (that won't require me to change my entire system locale, however).
