i have xorg 6.8

it seems that xterm has its own clipboard and everything else uses the regular clipboard.

in other words copied (selected) text in an xterm can only be pasted (middle clicked) to another xterm; but emacs, firefox, Eterm can all copy and paste to each other.

anyone know what is going on here?

That's weird... I can copy from xterm to any other app just fine using the primary selection (select to copy, middleclick to paste). Maybe it's some kind of unicode problem (if you compiled xterm with unicode support)?

You can past into other apps from xterm by pressing the middel button. by steps:

1. Mark the text you want to kopy in xterm
2. change the the window where you wont to past it (without unmarking the text)
3. Past the text by pressing the middel button where you want the text to be pasted

don't use the shortcut ctrl+v it wont work, and dont mark any text in the new app - it will be pasted instad

the other way arond:

1. mark the text you want to copy in any window
2. change to the xterm window
3. past the text with the middel button.

This for sure work with all GTK+ apps - and probely with many other apps to

Not that I'm aware of.

I explained how the different selections works some time ago in this thread.
