|
|
I am trying to get the USB connection between my UPS and my computer working (I never tried this with earlier versions of the kernel - I only today decided that it does not make sense to have paid for this connection if I am not using it). I am using 2.6.9-gentoo-r1
The UPS is visible in /proc/bus/usb/devices (with driver=none in the I-line related to the UPS) and is also visible via usbview (but showing in red, which I understand says that there is no driver associated with the device).
Running dmesg, I find:
Code: | usb 2-2: new low speed USB device using address 2
usbhid: probe of 2-2:1.0 failed with error -5 |
And no hiddevx entry is created in /dev/usb/hid, making it impossible to configure the ups (using the nut tools).
Searching the web, I have seen that other people have similar problems with all kind of low speed usb devices.
It seems to work with some kernels and not with others.
Anybody any idea? |

kdvgent,
Just upgraded to 2.6.9-gentoo-r1 also. In troubleshooting a USB/KVM problem I noted this option in menuconfig (devices > USB):
Code: |
/dev/hiddev raw device
|
The help for this option indicates its used for UPSs.
