I can print anything but pdf file (using acroread or xpdf). When I print a pdf, the job directly goes to complete in localhost:631. If I try to restart the job, I get the cups magic error client-error-not-possible.
I added the printer through the printing manager in KDE. It is a Samsung ML-1210. If I do the same thing in Knoppix 3.6, I can print pdf.
I've emerge cups and foomatic. Did I miss a package ?
Thanks, WarAngel |

CUPS doesn't print any type of document itself directly, apart from plain text files.
The conversion to raster or PS is the job of the driver (Ghostscript or whatever.) _________________ >>> emerge (3 of 7) mcse/70-293 to /

Yeah, the problem seems to be in the conversion. If I manually convert a pdf to a ps, I can print it with kghostview. Also, I try adding a starting and a ending banner and both came out, like if the conversion of the pdf was empty.
I think the problem is with pdftops like it is specified in mime.convs. What can I do ?

Personnally, I had this type of problem. On acroread, printing with cups did not function. So I reeemerged ghostscript and I emerged ghostview and now, printing with cups works very well.
My printer is a Canon i560. _________________ Asustek P5Q-PRO Core2Quad Q9550 - 4Gb DDRII1066
