|
|
Hello all,
I am running an Athlon 2.08ghz (XP 2800+). I just recently did an XP reinstall, and I wanted to install and play around with Gentoo. However, Gentoo will not boot off of the CD that I burned. I have tried the CD in a friend's computer and it boots fine, and it boots in VMWare. The Windows XP CD boots fine in my machine.
Does anyone know what the problem is and how I could fix it?
Thanks,
Tim |

No, this would be the minimal x86 CD. I've since tried a copy of SuSE and it boots fine as well. Something really strange going on here.
How do I do an install of Gentoo using knoppix?
Thanks,

read here:

for the Alternative Install method using the Knoppix Live CD
Oh, and BTW - the minimal 2002.2 CD was buggy for some reason - would boot on some systems and not others - I tried the damn thing 4 times, burned with Nero CloneCD and Alcohol in Winders and K3b in Fedora. No go - won't boot in the machine that made it - but booted laptop just fine _________________
