Here goes my story :-(

I had successfully been running Gentoo. Started at RC6 and upgraded to 1.1a. Then thought.. great have learned enough let me try this whole process again. So I did it again.. This time XF86config is turning out to be a bitch.

I am running a KVM switch (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) that allows me to use two computers without the hassle of two of everything.

When I run startx without the KVM the mouse works. When I run it with the KVM the mouse decides not to show up and gives the bloody message. XF86OpenSerial ... cannot open device /dev/psaux

I did a ls -l on /dev/psaux and found the symlink to /dev/misc/psaux
I even tried the ided in the posts to cat /dev/pasaux and see if i get something.. That worked as well. When I had KDE 3 running before I reinstalled.. My mouse was working.. So why is it not working now??

Thanks in advance,

jazz...

Be sure the KVM switch is "poiting" to the box when it is turned on... otherwise, it may think that a mouse was not attached on boot, which has caused major headaches for me in the past...

I believe it is pointing to linux. Otherwise I would not be able to see my monitor or use my keyboard.

How else would i be able to ensure that my KVM thinks it is pointing to my linux box? What did you do when you had this issue?
