These constant religious threads are getting boring. Everyone saying the same old things and no-one coming up with something new.

I say we should either stop the threads or have a seperate place where people can argue the same points over and over again...
Quote:
"Religious Topics Go Here"
People can then say how shit Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, Sikhism Wikka et al is in a seperate place to their hearst content

Your views please...

Personally i dont like the idea of censorship too much here so i would go for a seperate forum place.

just leave it as it is. if you ban it, then people would suggest politics next, then might end up the whole OTW.

Ban them now, and they will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.

In our profiles it should be possible to select forum posts we want to see when doing 'view posts since last visit' .. for me that would be bliss.

the religious and political threads are boring enough that i don't click on them. its not as if any of the posts say anything that hasn't been said before, so i just avoid them by not clicking on them. bypassing them is easy enough, so i don't see a need to isolate them from OTW.

what does bother me, though, is that some people try to inject these topics into threads that aren't about religion or politics, trolling for a sucker to help them hijack the thread. that kind of subject creep is a PITA.

They're like bad car accidents - you just can't help but watch. Or participate.

The OTW forums here are very much a quantum singularity.

Leave them as they are, people on here will slowly have to realise there's no point in adding to them. You're not going convince a believer to become a non-believer or vice-versa.

a23whatever used to wind me up something chronic at times, redseal just makes me chuckle.

Religions are like Linux : its most outspoken defenders are usually dumbfucks.

Actually, it's fairly true.

It's the maniacs on street corners (religion) and the idiots on slashdot (linux) that give each a bad reputation.

A thread that discusses the possibility of having religious threads or not is a religious thread itself. ;-)

Thats a fair point....

In the end people will respond to what they want to repond to. Religion bores the backside off me .. but every so often I learn somnething interesting.

Yeah send them to some other forum, we don't want them here! :P Ah well doesn't matter what happens, just don't ban it at all. Dump it at another forum would be great! Like a religous-polical forum! We might get some gods to sign up at the forums and let them flame each other! ;)

Let the forum become enlightened enough to stop caring about religion. It happens sooner or later. Politics will be discussed forever, but at some part people will simply learn to ignore both religionist and atheist trolls. I've seen it happen at http://apolyton.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=147 , and I expect to see it happen here... even if it might take years...

I vote for banning USA bashing (or any other country such as France, for that matter) threads. Too many, too many idiots who are biased against the USA. Keep your mouths shut.
