in vmware, it looks for a device called /dev/RTC. Its not under gentoo. Is this an addon? Is it a kernel build thingy? Its anonying because win2k on VMware thinks time is a non exsistant thing. It takes it 3 hours for the clock to go up 20min. yet it also thinks its downloading @ about 600Kbytes/s when its really getting it @ about 70. It looks cool, but its a pain. I use it for kazaa and when downloading stuff its slow as something really slow. any ideas? _________________ Lotas T Smartman

I wonder if this is the cause of many of the clock skew problems. I noticed mplayer looking for /dev/rtc earlier. _________________ Quis separabit? Quo animo? |

Yes, it's a kernel option.
Under "Character devices", you have to check "Enhanced Real Time Clock Support". |

Windows 2000 requires the Real Time Clock to function proper. VMware utilizes the system's RTC for this function. The RTC function is part of your kernel config (re-roll your kernel) _________________ Mike

I noticed windows acting funny! All slow and not crashing anyway, ill "re roll" the kernel. Cool way of describing it. Thanks for the help. _________________ Lotas T Smartman
