Hi folks,
I intend to buy a Logitech Z-680 5.1 speaker set. My current audio card is a Terratech Xfire1024, which has only 2 channels, but digital out which is supported by alsa as far as I can see
Code: |
# cat /proc/asound/pcm
00-00: CS46xx : CS46xx : playback 31 : capture 1
00-01: CS46xx - Rear : CS46xx - Rear : playback 31
00-02: CS46xx - IEC958 : CS46xx - IEC958 : playback 1

Now the point is that the Logitech has it's own DAC. Am I right to assume, that if I use hw0.2 as output device for xine, xmms etc. that I won't need a real 5.1 audio card, at least for applications that support alsa output directly?
And how about KDEs artsd (yes, I know it's ugly). In KDE's sound settings I don't find somethin where I can force artsd to use a specific ALSA device!?
And please, I really don't want to by a new audio card. So I'd appreciate the real hacker suggestions -- maybe some artsd patch and the like
Regards, Alex!!! _________________ ALT-F4 |
