Hey, this isnt' really gentoo related, but you guys have been so helpful in the past, i thought i'd ask.
My computer just started locking up last night. It stays alive for about 10-15 mintues then it had locks. It does this in multiple different kernels and also in windows. I am assuming it is hardware related
here are my specs
athlon 1.2
via motherboard
1gb pc 133 memory
asus nvidia3 card
sb live!
cheap NIC
2 new hds
so, maybe the old mobo/cpu is dying? what do you guys think? heat related? i have no idea.
thanks for any guidance |

when that happened to me it was the motherboard,
I tried it with all combinations of stuff installed and narrowed it down to that or CPU, i think tho that if a CPU goes, then it well .... completely goes (from what ive seen anyway)
Without seeing the system tho i could not give a deffinate answer, but thats what it sounds like to me from what you are saying
Edit - ive had heat problems too but those tended to cause an instant shutdown sicne the motherboard killed the system before damage was done instead of freezing it on |
