Ok, I have managed to build a new kernel and it boots just fine. However, I am still having trouble with my original problem. I cannot get vmware to build the proper modules that it needs. It asks for the location of the C header files for my running kernel. I am running 2.4.18-18.8.0smp. If I type in "/lib/modules/2.4.18-18.8.0smp/build/include" It looks in "/usr/src/linux-2.4.18-18.8.0/include" since build is a symbolic link. vmware rejects these header files and says they do not match my running kernel. I do not have a linux-2.4.18-18.8.0smp folder in /usr/src. So how do I get vmware to work and still run the smp kernel (i.e. leave smp running instead of booting linux-2.4.18-18.8.0 which would shutdown my second processor)?
VMware techs are not repling to my e-mails and I cannot find this same problem with a serch.

Simply point it to the %kernelsource%/build/include. If you're storing it elsewhere (as opposed to the standard "/usr/src"), give it the correct pointer. _________________ Mike

perl -e 'print $i=pack(c5,(41*2),sqrt(7056),(unpack(c,H)-2),oct(115),10);' |

Thats the problem. I can't seem to point to the right location. I am using a RedHat kernel and their search engine page that would display the kernel I need is down.

Try "uname -a" to confirm your running kernel _________________ Mike
