Hi,

is there a "standard" kde wide program with which i can produce popup messages similar to the way MSN or AIM do when buddies log in or out. I am writing a simple python script and I need to create a popup like that.

I assume python was going to initiate the message and you just need something to display it? Try using xmessage.
Code:

xmessage -center "Elvis has logged off the building"

It's not all that pretty though.

yea the not pretty part is what's important to me.

I was thinking, idealy there should just be some standart call to do that, i should look into kde internals to see how it works, it seem complicated though because there seems to be a lot of buses and stuff ...
