|
|
Scenario:
At Work - I'm behind a corporate firewall, so I ssh into my linux box (behind a router) on my home network. This works fine.
At Home - My home LAN is my Gentoo box, which is my SSH and Web server. Only gets ports 80 and 443 (which is actually SSH, since I'm not using SSL on my server, and that's the only thing my work system can tunnel through their proxy.) I also have a WinXP system that supports remote desktop. (Though my router won't allow it from outside my home LAN, and I won't allow it either.)
Problem: I need my Gentoo box to proxy MS Term Servce to/from my work system to my XP box. Since I can SSH to the Gentoo box, can I proxy the Term service to/from the XP box? If so, how? |

You could always piggy back the connection to the ssh conntection (port tunneling).
Putty for windows will do this.

[edit] Never mind. I just took a good look at the putty config and found you're absolutely right. Thanks. |

Did you bother to read the page I gave ya?
Quote: | like above - in the source port, type 18080, in destination, type irc.dal.net:6666, click Add |
and
Quote: | If it is working, open up mIRC and connect to server "localhost on port 18080". A quick way to do this is to type "/server localhost:18080" in the 'Status' window in mIRC. |
Keep in mind they used it for irc but it is the same layout for MS Term. Just forward for 3389 local to 3389 your windoze ip.
