Okay here's my setup. 5 gig partition i'm booted in now with gentoo, that i'm using for installing.
using 2.6.9-rc1-love2 kernel
trying to install gentoo on a reiser4 RAID0 (software RAID)
everything goes fine at first. i bootstrap with gcc34 profile and with linux26-headers.
i get up to emerge system, and on debianutils everything goes wrong.
everything i try to emerge errors on me.
cp: skipping file 'xxxx', as it was replaced while being copied.
i also get this while trying to remove a file
rm: 'xxxx' changed dev/ino: Is a directory
however when i get out of chroot i can copy/remove stuff fine on those partitions.
i've started all over again, formatted and wiped drives and i STILL get these errors. this is really driving me nuts. anyone have any ideas to what this possibly could be? |

Okay i solved the problem. I did a stage3 install and proceeded to recompile everything at that point by doing the bootstrap and emerge system again.
I think i found the problem though. Everything died on debianutils each time i tried to install, so it had to have been the package before that. which was coreutils-5.2.1-r2. (which cp and mv are inclued in) so either r2 is broken, or it doesn't like my CFLAGS as much as the older ones.
(CFLAGS="-O3 -march=athlon-xp -m3dnow -msse -mmmx -mfpmath=sse,387 -funroll-loops -fforce-addr -ffast-math -fprefetch-loop-arrays -ftracer -fomit-frame-pointer -finline-limit=800 -pipe")
SO... what i did was i masked coreutils-5.2.1-r1 and r2 and everything compiled fine with no problems. figured i'd post this just in case anyone else had these kinds of problems. |
