Hi All,
I've just installed gentoo on 2 x 200GB drives configured as software RAID1 by following a guide I came accross whilst browsing this forum.
I have rebooted for the first time and I get as far as:
Code: | raid1: raid set md0 active with 2 out of 2 mirrors
md: ... autorun DONE.
EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.
VFS: Mounted root (ext3 filesystem) readonly.
kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds |
And then it just sits there. I know it hasn't crashed as I still get the blinking curser.
I'm not sure if this is a RAID problem or not and am at a bit of a loss of where to go from here.
Many thanks
Mark

hi again,
I turned it back on this morning (in the hope that the computer fairies payed me a visit and fixed it) to find that I occasionally get an error message.
Code: | mount_devfs_fs(): Unable to mount devfs, err -2
warning: Unable to open an initial console.
Kernel panic - not syncing: Not init found. Try passing init= option to kernel |
I would try and pass the init= option if I knew what it needed to equal .
Many thanks

Hi All,
Solved the problem, after some hunting, I found I was passing the wrong root= command in grub.
