Ok, I have recently got a gentoo server running, and eveything is fine, except it tries to run DMA whenever it starts up, The HDD is pretty old and FUBAR, so it doesn't do DMA at all. When it gets to the actual part of the loading process when it lists the Gentoo linux information (and starts putting junk in color), it says that DMA is turned off (because it obviousely doesn't work). How can I get rid of DMA checks while my system is booting? It sets me back about a minute in boot time. |

If you are using lilo, put the following in your lilo.conf. It worked on an old redhat box of mine back in the day.

I know what you are saying, but I use Grub, does anyone know what the grub command is for this? |
