i tried going from 2.6.9-rc1 to 2.6.9 and the computer just freezes after it detects the UHCI VIA USB 1.1 controller. I ran make oldconfig going from 2.6.9-rc1 to 2.6.9-gentoo-r1 and changed absolutely nothing, and the kernel will not boot.
Anyone got anything for me or should i say the fuck with upgrading kernels just use 2.6.8.1? _________________ -Kow |

The problem is UHCI.. If I disable it, the kernel will boot but i get no keyboard or mouse support because I use USB both. If I enable it the kernel just freezes during the beginning part.. right around the soundcard init. The mouse comes alive (LED lights up) and the keyboard resets with nothing and I cannot turn on caps lock or Num lock.
These problems do not occur in 2.6.9-rc1 and I noticed a crapload of USB "fixes" (more like breakings) in the Changelog. _________________ -Kow |

What motherboard?
Uhci is for Intel and Via controllers. Most likely you need ohci since I'm guessing you have an athlon-64 board. Also ehci is the faster usb protocol (high speed, 2.0 whatever the fast one is lol) so you probably want that on too. |
