I am installing Gentoo. I am doing a scratch build of the kernel, boostrap, stage 1 I think you guys call it.
I get to the step where I need to run an emerge rsync. Obviously that is not working correctly at this time. How does one go about upgrading portage before I am finished with the installation?
Thank you. _________________ "Heaven is a 24/7 orgasm. Hell is...well Hell is actually Earth." |

uhhh, I think all that you need to do is before running emerge edit the /etc/make.conf file where it says SYNC="whatever whatever..." that needs to be changed to SYNC="rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" in order to rsync sucsessfully. Well, and you need a working network connection. |

I tried this already. I'll double check my work to make sure it is correct.
Do I have to change the existing RSYNC line or can I simplay add an additional RSYNC line? _________________ "Heaven is a 24/7 orgasm. Hell is...well Hell is actually Earth." |

Change the "SYNC=" line. You can only have 1 sync server in make.conf. |
