|
|
Hey,
I'm having trouble getting my soundcard working... according to lspci, its a Intel 82801EB/ER. I followed the Gentoo Linux Alsa Guide, but when it comes to starting alsa, it says a required driver is not loaded. This might be because i'm not using the correct alias for the audio card, since I don't know what that would be. Its a 2.6.9 kernel, compiled with genkernel.
If this one is as easy as My last topic, you guys really need to explain to me how I can figure these things out by myself
As always, thanks in advance! _________________ Really still a n00b with a square under his name

Most AC'97 Audio Controllers are using the snd-intel8x0 module. Try that one and see (hear ) if it works. |

Compile the intel 8x driver into the kernel... i
Code: | cd /usr/src/linux
make menuconfig |
you'll find it.
also, you might think that it's a little idiotic. but, don't forget these things ( I tell you this because I did it myself a few times )
after configuring the kernel don't forget to compile it...
before copying the bzimage and the system.map, don't forget to mount /boot
and last but not least.. if you rename the files you copy ( don;'t overwrite the ones you already have) don't forget to add the entry in the grub.conf file
good luck! _________________ thesis. |

'modprobe snd-intel8x0' was sufficient, so luckily, I didn't have to recompile the kernel!
Sound works now, but only comes from my real left and rear right speakers (and not the two ones in front). Any idea how to fix that?
Thanks! _________________ Really still a n00b with a square under his name

Good luck! |
I unmuted all the channels listed in the ALSA guide, but it didn't help
Thanks anyway though! _________________ Really still a n00b with a square under his name
