Hello all,

I need to make the following script run on startup to make my mouse work properly.

xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5"

Not quite sure how to go about doing this. I've googled and come up with several options, but none seems to work on my system. Any ideas?

Check out /etc/conf.d/local.start

Also looks like it might be used to change settings for a pointer in X, in which case you can edit the config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf for xorg).

Try putting the line
Code:
pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5
in ~/.Xmodmap .

the .Xmodmap tip seems to work the best. None of the others seems to have worked on my system. :( I received an error during the bootup process when I tried the local.start option. Sorry, it flashed by too fast for me to catch anything except the filename in the error message. Thanks for all your help!! The gentoo forums really are the best linux documentation on the net!
