Since i use a newly installed kernel ( 2.6.8-gentoo-r7 ) my usb key is no longer mountable. The uhci module works ok but ehci one seems not.
When loading the module, dmesg gives the following :
Code: |
ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:00:10.3[D] -> GSI 10 (level, low) -> IRQ 10
ehci_hcd 0000:00:10.3: VIA Technologies, Inc. USB 2.0
ehci_hcd 0000:00:10.3: irq 10, pci mem f0aeb000
ehci_hcd 0000:00:10.3: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 1
ehci_hcd 0000:00:10.3: USB 2.0 enabled, EHCI 1.00, driver 2004-May-10
hub 1-0:1.0: USB hub found
hub 1-0:1.0: 6 ports detected
|
There is only this strange line about ACPI, but the module is loaded. But when i plug the key, the following add :
Code: |
usb 1-4: new high speed USB device using address 3
usb 1-4: control timeout on ep0out
ehci_hcd 0000:00:10.3: Unlink after no-IRQ? Different ACPI or APIC settings may help.
usb 1-4: control timeout on ep0out
usb 1-4: device not accepting address 3, error -110
usb 1-4: new high speed USB device using address 4
usb 1-4: control timeout on ep0out
usb 1-4: control timeout on ep0out
usb 1-4: device not accepting address 4, error -110
usb 1-4: new high speed USB device using address 5
usb 1-4: control timeout on ep0out
usb 1-4: control timeout on ep0out
usb 1-4: device not accepting address 5, error -110
...

And so on with 6,7,8 and others. No nodes in /dev were created.
Hum, as newbie as i can be, i see that there a problem with IRQ (it should be 11) or something in the kernel.
I keep reading other topics in this forum, and other docs, but if someone explains to me what's happening it would be easier to fix it. Can someone help ? Thanks. |

I am having a similar problem with USB2 (from 2.6.8-3 to 2.6.9-r1) - these are the kernels that I have only used with usb2
I have a USB stick and udev detects and mounts fine. but after 2min I get a disconnect messege in /var/log/messages even tho the device is still connected and is mounted. the device node still exist in /dev !!??##
I have uhci, ohci and ehci as modules (all 3 are loaded) The only way to stop this from happening is to remove the ehci (usb2) module. I would like to have it working at usb2 (usb1.1) to get the fasdter data rate
any help anyone? |

I am having the same problem with my Microsoft Office Keyboard. I am using a 2.6.8-r1 gentoo kernel. A quick google search showed that this problem is affecting many distributions not just Gentoo. I have an Athlon XP processor. Perhaps that is part of the kernel problem. _________________ http://www.supernerd.com |
