|
|
I saw some terminal is transparent on some screenshot, so it will not cover the background.
I am currently using xterm + fvwm2. Anybody can give me some hints how to achieve that feature?
THanks, |

there are 3 *terms i know of that support this feature
aterm: which i never got to work as i want it
Eterm: you have to set your background using the Esetbg command instead of bsetbg ...then you just go to the menu Background->Toggle Transparency ..and that's it
konsole: you need kde installed, but it works great!! works pure from the root window, so it's no prob with telling it to be transaprent (it even has tint!!) ...it also has some other very nice features, but it's not worth installing kde just for that ...it's my favourite, but i can't use it ...hw probs caused some packages to be a bit foo so kde won't start - i'll have to make a emerge -e world someday (AFTER i replace that foo ramstick!!!)
well in all kde screenshots you've seen konsole, and in all others you've seen Eterm and sometimes aterm (waimea can do this to every *term, afaik) _________________ tea+free software+law=hook

Easier explained for Eterm:
- use Esetroot to set your root window background color and or wallpaper.
- execute Eterm with "Eterm -O --shade <value>", e.g. Eterm -O --shade 50 |

... and there is also gnome terminal (the gnome1.x as well as the gnome2 version). unfortunately all of the terminals only support pseudo-transparency at the moment. |

heck yeah aterm....
you can make the background of the aterm terminal the same as your desktop background with
aterm -tr
I know there's also a way to customize it even more with a config file but I haven't figured that out yet. _________________ Gentoo is a learning experience |

I'm using aterm.
Code: |
$ aterm -sh 70 +sb -tr
|
I set the background using the Esetroot command supplied with the Eterm ebuild. _________________ This signature will selfdestruct in ten seconds...

After some experimentation I decided to use this:
aterm.scrollBar_right: true
aterm.transparent: true
aterm.transpscrollbar: true
aterm.shading: 20
aterm.foreground: white
aterm.background: black
aterm.color4: #7777ff
aterm.color12: #7777ff
bsetbg for changing the background. |
