Well, I'm updating my install by reinstalling everything I backuped my data on a software raid 5 partition.
The root fs is a raid 0 partition, which i created at my last gentoo install. I want use reiserfs4
The LiveCD can find the old raid arrays with no problems, and thus i made a complete "by the book" install om my reiserfs md0 (worked last time, so should work right now)
All went well, and I installed the 2.6.9-nirto1 kernel (it contains reiserfs4 support), and of cource with raid support build in!
After some final setup (including grub), i did a reboot.
But the kenrel does not find the raid 0 devices (on autodetection), not the raid 5 array. This has always worked (upto kernel 2.6.9-gentoo-r? )...
The arrays are fine, I can use them with the livecd (via copied raidrab on /boot)
When I try to pass the kernel parameters: md=0,/dev/sda3/,/dev/sda4
It errors:
Code: |
md: Loading md0: /dev/sda3
md: could not open unknown-block(8,3).
md: md_import_device returned 6
.... same for /dev/sdb3
md: bug in file drivers/md/md.c, line 1580

Is this kernel f&$@#ed or am I just doing something wrong?
Are there any other kenels that support reiserfs4? |

Anyone?
I tried my old 2.6.3 kernel. It works, but because of no reiserfs4 support I still cant boot
Is raid broken in the later kernels (or just the nitro)?
Also, the mm kernels should contain reiserfs4, but menuconfig does not show that... I can't download a patch for the regular kernel from reiserfs.org ...
What the hell is going on???
I'm realy deperate here, so please help! |

Did you build this stuff with raidtools or mdadm? I've seen similar problems with raidtools. |

The orriginal array was built with raidtools, the new one with mdadm (all data was still present after creation though ).
So no luck with either...
Just tried mm-2.6.10-r2 with reiserfs4 -> same shit
Just tried the normal 2.6.9-gentoo without reiserfs4 -> autodetection oke, but no boot because of missing fs... aarg..
So now, I want to path this kernel with reiserfs4, but the ftp sais:
ftp://ftp.namesys.com/pub/reiser4-for-2.6.9/
Does anyone have this patch file for me? |
