Hello,

Thank you for looking at my post, I'm having an issue with a OpenGL game that I am trying to run (UT2004) using the ATI 3.14.1 Drivers with Xorg 6.7 using kernel 2.6.8-gentoo-r10. I have followed this guide http://odin.prohosting.com/wedge01/gentoo-radeon-faq.html as far as installing the drivers, I do have the correct chipset support for my motherboards AGP port (NForce2), this is the error I get once trying to start ut2004:

Code:

open /dev/[sound/]mixer: no such file or directory
WARNING: ALC_EXT_capture is subject!
Couln't set video mode: Couldn't find matching GLX visual.

Here is what 'lsmod' reports:
Code:

$lsmod
Module                  Size  Used by
fglrx                 234332  0
snd_emu10k1            94600  0
snd_rawmidi            21348  1 snd_emu10k1
snd_ac97_codec         66884  1 snd_emu10k1
snd_util_mem            3904  1 snd_emu10k1
snd_hwdep               7940  1 snd_emu10k1
snd_pcm_oss            50344  0
snd_pcm                89732  2 snd_emu10k1,snd_pcm_oss
snd_page_alloc          9480  2 snd_emu10k1,snd_pcm
snd_timer              23300  1 snd_pcm
snd                    50660  8 snd_emu10k1,snd_rawmidi,snd_ac97_codec,snd_util_mem,snd_hwdep,snd_pcm_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer

It appears that the module is loaded for the ati drivers, however i'm still not able to play any OpenGL games, glxgears does work.

I would appreciate any information on my issue.

Thank you for your time and efforts.

I'm not having any issues with lockups due to me not being able to actually get a opengl game to run that far.

I do have GLX loaded in my xorg.conf as well, and I checked the Xorg.0.log and it does state it starts wtihout any errors
glxinfo states the following:

Bingo. You hit the money rasto I changed Option "UseInternalAGPART" "no" and now glxgears is screaming with FPS 2000+ ( i know this is not the best we to measure your system performance)
I then ran ut2004 and it started up! :)

Of course I cannot test the performance of UT2004 since I was using VNC to connect to my desktop.

Thanks for the help!
