eth0 is a 3c905 card

When i try to install gentoo from 2004.2 live cd, it seems to detect properly the ethernet card, then hangs on dhcp a lot. When i have root, if i try a ifconfig, eth0 is down. If i try to bring it up with ifconfig eth0 up , gives this error:

Code:

eth0: Host error, FIFO diagnostic register 2000.
eth0: PCI bus error, bus status 00000029

if i do ifconfig eth0 gives almost correct results ?!?

obviously net-setup doesn't work, and the eth0 doesn't work at all.

/etc/conf.d/net is with iface_eth0="dhcp"

I've checked around the web, and there are known issues of incompatibility with kudzu (not our case)... Problems of installation of 3C905 on other flavours... But anyway is a supported card in linux and worked on my other flavours....
