i think there was an article in anantech i think which showed the software raid only increased disk io by 20% in real apps, i stiped five 1gig scsi disks and wasnt that impressed, that said i was more concerned about the heat and noise the bloody things generated

Yes that is (almost) true, but when (un)rar'ing, converting (bins, isos, and so on) and stuff like that there is a BIG diffrence.
I wouldn't trade my raid0 for anything. |
