|
|
I got a big problem with Kernel 2.6.x
I got a VIA Rhine NIC.
And it's definitely not possible to establish a working network connection.
I'm sure, that it's a Kernel problem because with a 2.4.x it's no problem at all.
The thing is I got an AMD 64 but I only can get an installation CD with a 2.6.x Kernel.
--> no chance to do a stage 1 installation.
So I use x86 instead.
Now I want to know who to tell this problem or how to get an AMD64 Installation CD with a 2.4.x Kernel so that I can install it.
Unfortunately it's not possible to use an x86 LIVE CD becaue then there will be some problems during the compiling of the system.
Please tell me if you can help me, I'm really desperate. |

If you feel sure that this is nothing that you are doing wrong please bug report it.
Apparently kernel 2.4 doesn't have the desired hardware support to make a good LiveCD for AMD64 so that's why you're having trouble finding one.
Though I might make a suggestion. You can boot and format partitions using the x86 LiveCD and download the stage tarball, then reboot off the AMD64 LiveCD and continue. _________________ Command-line ACCEPT_KEYWORDS is considered harmful, use the package.* files.
