|
|
I have been trying to use livecd-basic-1.4_rc1-r2 to install gentoo but I cant seem to get the network card to configure either using pci-setup and net-config
when I run pci-setup I don't see any modules except the osst and cpqarray neither of which I have.
I tried modprobe but I have a SMC 1211 card which as I understand needs 8139too.o but that doesn't seem to be listed when I run
"ls /lib/modules/*/kernel/drivers/net/*"
when I "modprobe 8139too" it says the module isn't there
I was thinking It might be a BIOS config problem but it is more likely something much more elementry I am just missing
Here Is my relevant hardware:
Abit KR7A-133 RAID with Athlon XP 2100
Highpoint IDE-RAID controller (not in use but doesn't show with pci-setup)
Intel PRO-1000 T
SMC 1211TX
Any Input would be greatly appreciated |

did u try to use net-setup eth0 ,
most of the nic cards should work under linux, use ur own model and see if is compatible (www.google.com,www.gentoo.org) |

Tried "net-setup eth0" but it can't find interface because the drivers aren't loaded
also tried using the 1.2 CD but I was having detection problems there too |

Try using the tulip driver from the 1.2 boot cd, iirc that worked on one of my systems. |
