GNOME computer volume labels - 2.8

Hi,

I have searched around and cannot find where you can set the name that unmounted volumes (namely hardrive partitions) aer set

They are all listed as the harddrive manufacturer and not as the mount point

ie

Maxtor 6Y080L0
in stead of W2k

how can I do this. I can live with the CDRW and DVD since I know what they are. But the only way I can find out what volume is what is to mount (I have 3) and I always get it wrong

There must be a way to set it??
