|
|
hi,
while compiling X, it quit with the error:
Code: | xkbmisc.c: 171: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <URL:http://bugs.gentoo.org/> for instructions
The bug is not reproducible, so it is likely a hardware or OS problem.
make[4]: *** [xkbmisc.o] Error 1
make[4]: Leaving directory '/var/tmp/portage/xorg-x11-6.8.0-r1/work/xc/lib/xkbfile'
|
more of the same errors, just leaving the directories until it gets to:
Code: |
make[1]: Leaving directory '/var/tmp/portage/xorg-x11-6.8.0-r1/work/xc'
make: *** [World] Error 2
!!! ERROR: x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.0-r1 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 622, Exitcode 2
!!! (no error message)
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this stus message.
|
ok, i think this might be a gcc error, becuase it's happened before, while trying to compile X (this time i think it got further, was on like emerging the 12th or 13th dependancy i think). Also there was a kernel compile error, which maybe i should also post, but may be an unrelated problem (although maybe the kernel didn't configure gcc right?).
Any idea?
edit: added more code to make it more detailed |

Sounds like you have cooling problems there. It could also be a faulty memory module. Check 'em out.
Moved from Installing Gentoo. |

Just try re-emerging it. It might just work the second time around. |

yeah, re-emrging worked like 3rd time around, it kept giving non-reproducable (i.e. this didn't happen second time around, it just did another error message) errors.
Kernel also had compile errors, and X-server is making it crash, which could be due to horintal sync being wrong? |

This is probably hardware related, since xfree isn't a stressful package in terms of time/compiling
If you are overclocked, this might happen (I had this issue when I clocked a 2.6ghz to anything over 2.8 -- only when compiling
If you memory speed is to high, or bus same problem.
If you have damaged memory again same thing |
