Has anyone had any experience with the new "broken up" kde ebuilds, as referenced in this thread?

I remember this as being one of the most talked about features a few years back, but now after it has been made, I haven't seen any real discussion on it here on the forum.

On the other hand, searching for "broken kde" generates a lot of hits...
