|
|
Hi,
After every emerge session where I add/upgrade packages, emerge tries to uninstall the shorewall package (after doing everything else), which I don't have installed any longer (if ever). It then quits with an error.
It's a minor problem, and I don't know how it got there. My main complaint is that I now after every emerge session, have to manually type etc-update to see if any config files need to be edited.
Any way I can fix this?
Code: | >>> clean: No packages selected for removal.
>>> Auto-cleaning packages ...
net-firewall/shorewall
selected: 1.4.7c
protected: 2.0.4
omitted: none
>>> 'Selected' packages are slated for removal.
>>> 'Protected' and 'omitted' packages will not be removed.
>>> Waiting 5 seconds before starting...
>>> (Control-C to abort)...
>>> Unmerging in: 5 4 3 2 1
>>> Unmerging net-firewall/shorewall-1.4.7c...
No package files given... Grabbing a set.
/usr/lib/portage/bin/ebuild.sh: /var/db/pkg/net-firewall/shorewall-1.4.7c/shorewall-1.4.7c.ebuild: line 31: unexpected EOF while looking for matching `"'
/usr/lib/portage/bin/ebuild.sh: /var/db/pkg/net-firewall/shorewall-1.4.7c/shorewall-1.4.7c.ebuild: line 33: syntax error: unexpected end of file

Is shorewall in your world file?
(/var/lib/portage/world or /var/cache/edb/world)
if it is I would take it out and portage should no longer be looking for it.
Other than that I cant think of anything else |

I removed the entry from the world file, but it still tries to remove the package. _________________ Beetle B.

Why don't you just install it? _________________ -Jude M. |

Hmm...Good idea.
Didn't work, though. It installed Shorewall 2.0.x, but it still tries to uninstall Shorewall 1.4.7c.
I don't have an ebuild for that, to install.
I removed the 2.0.x, and did emerge -s shorewall:
Code: | emerge -s shorewall
Searching...
[ Results for search key : shorewall ]
[ Applications found : 1 ]
* net-firewall/shorewall
Latest version available: 2.0.4
Latest version installed: 1.4.7c
Size of downloaded files: 2,452 kB
Homepage: http://www.shorewall.net/
Description: Full state iptables firewall
License: GPL-2

So somewhere, it still thinks I have 1.4.7c. _________________ Beetle B.

It can't remove it because your copy of /var/db/pkg/net-firewall/shorewall-1.4.7c/shorewall-1.4.7c.ebuild is somehow corrupted.
Normally you would grab the ebuild from the portage tree and place it there, but this old version isn't in portage anymore so you'll have to grab it from the CVS tree: http://www.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/*checkout*/net-firewall/shorewall/Attic/shorewall-1.4.7c.ebuild?rev=HEAD&content-type=text/plain
Save it as Code: | /var/db/pkg/net-firewall/shorewall-1.4.7c/shorewall-1.4.7c.ebuild |
Portage will then be able to remove it properly. _________________ Military Commissions Act of 2006: http://tinyurl.com/jrcto
