Hey, perhaps this is a n00b question, but here goes:
I don't have a fd0 block device!!!! How can I access my floppy drive? dmesg doesn't mention fd0. Is there something that I simply missed? Oh yeah, some other tidbits of info:
I ran this command, `modprobe floppy`, three times, the first two times it said it couldn't find a device, the third time it segmentation faulted, and the fourth time it finally inserted... if that helps?
Oh yeah, I'm running gentoo 2004.2 with a 2.6.8-r3 kernel, and I have a VIA chipset in my motherboard (VIAKT133 to be specific) _________________ Check out my...

2.6.8-r3 had a problem with the floppy module. I think it was back working again by r5 |

using the same .config (with make oldconfig) should be ok under most circumstances when changing revision numbers (i.e. going from 2.6.8-r3 to 2.6.8-r6). any bigger jumps (e.g. to 2.6.9) and i'd suggest starting blank each time. _________________ http://dev.gentoo.org/~dsd |
