I have a problem with my MOBO can´t install the built-in soundcard.. in gentoo i can´t find the support in the kernel and i´m a bit of a linux noob so i can´t really figure it out my self :-\ but heyy you learn as long as you live..

all help is welcome..

I have the same mobo, but have not configured to use the builtin sound.

But you have to enable it in the BIOS (maybe under Integrated Peripherals), then you should be able to see it when you do a "lspci -v | less".

The alsa driver could be the via82xx, but I have not tested this.

Well.. It works in Windows so it have to be enabled in bios.. i just can't find the right driver cause i don't know what soundcard is built in... :-\ it's such a pain in the ass... i have everything else working but the soundcard refuses to work.. :-\

ok. One more info.

AFAIK you must use ALSA, I do not believe there is an appropriate driver in OSS. In ALSA I believe the driver is named "via82xx".
I once had it working (at least playing of audiofiles) with alsa-0.5, but that was two or three years ago, and was not with Gentoo. But I think thats not a showstopper :wink:

Do you use ALSA or OSS ?

BTW, for setting up ALSA there is docu floating around in the net, for instance http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/alsa-guide.xml or http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/migration-to-2.6.xml

As it happens the first one uses the via82xx as sample, what a luck :D
