Just did a system update, and my nice progress bar has vanished :-(
The splash screen is still there, but no progressbar and no text.
I know gensplash is replacing bootsplash, but I am still running kernel 2.6.5 (Got stuff I need in it).
I take it the is some change, maybe in baselayout. Does anyone know what it is / how to get my progressbar back?

Cheers.

Steve.

Nothing has changed in gensplash or bootsplash recently

Seems to me that it must be a change in baselayout, as installing the bootsplash patch (modifies runscript.sh and a few others) gives back my progressbar. Unfortunatley it also borks startup / shutdown as it was made for a much earlier version of baselayout. :-(

I was just wondering if this has been fixed yet. I even went so far as to try the masked 1.11 version of baselayout and still the bootsplash progress bar doesn't work for me :( I guess I'll just have to step down to an earlier version of baselayout for now... *sigh*

By the way, as an update just in case anybody is still using bootsplash: even though the newer baselayouts seem to have broken bootsplash, it's not the case. Cd over to /usr/portage/media-gfx/bootsplash and emerge bootsplash-0.6.1-r7.ebuild. The latest one installed on your machine is probably 0.6.1-r4. Somebody else on the mailing lists fixed the same problem using this method and it worked for me as well. I'll eventually switch over to gensplash, but for those like me who are still using bootsplash for now, this will fix it Smile
