I have ET installed, and most of the stuff works well, except I have to reset the settings every time that I play. Also, the PK3 files are deleted whenever I exit. I have made sure that the user that I play on is a member of games (can write into some directories in /opt/enemy-territory). Ideas?

Thanks!

All user stuff should be stored in ~user/.etwolf

It's there, but still. Like 1/4 of the files that I downloaded are there at all.

I've noticed that it loses the previous resolution if the exit isn't clean, so make sure you exit with "Esc -> yes/no" from the main menu, not some kill command or ^C or something.

I suspect this has something to do with the ET Pro mods. A fresh install will correctly keep my resolution, but after one of the mods is auto downloaded it rarely does.

Edit: When I say fresh install I actually mean move your ~/.etwolf folder out of the way

I had this problem on one of my installs. I did this to my config files, and it also insures I always use the same config:

make a config.cfg
link .etwolf/etmain/etconfig.cfg to it
link .etwolf/*/etconfig.cfg to it

I hope I got those paths right, I'm not in front of my box at the moment.

Yeah, there's some kind of weird "bug" or feature that if certain files aren't deleted in your .etwolf directory after playing the game that the mod will go back to some other defaults the next time around. I hated that, it seemed like I was always playing the game at 800x600. :(

It took me months until I found the webpage that had a fix, but I can't find the link right now. Anyway, I remembered what you need to do.

Goto /usr/local/games/enemy-territory

Edit "et" with your favorite editor

Here's mine, notice the extra line:

Code:

#!/bin/sh
# Needed to make symlinks/shortcuts work.
# the binaries must run with correct working directory
cd "/usr/local/games/enemy-territory"
# the next line is needed so the screen resolution isn't reset for a mod
rm ~/.etwolf/*/profiles/*/profile.pid
#./et.x86 +set r_smp 1 $*
./et.x86 $*
exit $?

That should fix it! Enjoy.

PS:

You shoudn't need write access to /opt or whatever. Very evil. All the simple mods I use (like etpro or shrubet) are automatically installed in my user .etwolf account and work fine.

/usr/share/et
/usr/share/locale/et
/usr/include/et

For me it is in /usr/games/bin/et and now reads:

#!/bin/sh
cd /opt/enemy-territory
rm ~/.etwolf/*/profiles/*/profile.pid
exec ./et.x86 "$@"

Seems to work so far.

This is a weird bug, it hapens if you run et and them loads a MOD over etmain.

I play only in etpro servers, so the solution i've found was start the game already running etpro:
Code:
et +set fs_game etpro

PS: the rm solution i've used some time too, but anyway, starting the game already running etpro for me is much better :)

What happens if you join a non-et pro server?
