.....after 10 attempts I finally got Gentoo 2004.2 working and emerged kde-3.2.2 and installed nvidia driver 6106, ran Xorg configure and opengl-update nvidia and echo "exec startkde" etc but kde will not start.
The error message for kdeinit, kde-config etc is " : error whilst loading shared libraries: libjpeg.so.62: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory. "
Can anyone please help with this? Thanks. |

Try:
That package installs the file /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62
I'm not sure why this wasn't installed if KDE needs it, perhaps you have the "-jpeg" use flag?
Your Xorg works, right? (after the first time you startx'ed it came up with a really ugly window manager and a mouse cursor?) |

Yes xorg works but not kde, I will try emerge jpeg. Thanks. |
